Campus Orientation

San Joaquin Villages is an urban-style housing community located at the intersection of Storke Road and El Colegio Road.

  • North: Borders a bike path and road that can be used for emergency vehicles only.
  • South: Bordered by El Colegio Rd..
  • West: Adjacent to Storke Rd
  • East: Neighbors the Santa Catalina Residence Hall and Portola Dining Commons.

Building Layout

The complex is organized into two mid-rise towers and four low-rise residential courts:

  • Towers: Includes the Tenaya North (which houses the Tenaya Market) and Tenaya South (which includes a separate standalone Rec Room and Study Room)
  • North Villages: Consists of four 3-story clusters: Elsinore Court, Calaveras Court, Malibu Court, and Ramona Court.
  • Community Spaces: Features several Study Rooms, Rec Rooms, Laundry facilities, and Volleyball and Basketball Courts.
  • Amenities: The Tenaya Market is located on the first floor of Tenaya North.

Emergency Evacuation Sites

Designated assembly points are marked on the map: 

  • Central Site: A primary site located in the open space between the Tenaya Towers and Santa Catalina. 
  • Volleyball Courts: A site located on the west side between the Tenaya Towers near Storke Rd.
  • Basketball Courts: An evacuation site is positioned on the east side of the complex, near the loading dock and service vehicle spaces for Portola Dining Commons.
  • South Site: Located in the grassy area south of the Santa Catalina Tower South near El Colegio Rd.

Safety and Utilities Legend

The map identifies critical infrastructure for emergency response:

  • Disaster Supplies: Disaster Kits (D) are located at the Tenaya South Tower and near the Compactor Yard.
  • Utility Shut-offs: Electrical (E), Gas (G), and Water (W) shut-offs are identified at building exteriors and within Boiler Rooms (B).
  • Fire Safety: Fire Hydrants (H), Extinguishers, and Manual Pull Stations are distributed throughout the clusters.
  • Communication: Emergency Phones and Communication Rooms (C) are available for resident use.
