Room Change Process

Living in community and sharing space with others can be challenging sometimes. Conflict happens and other life circumstances happen, so when residents decide for themselves that a room change is their preferred resolution, our staff are available to assist in facilitating the room change process, which is directed by the student.

In the Fall Quarter, room change requests will not be considered until week 2 of instruction (starting October 6). Please do not request a room change prior to move-in. After move-in weekend, the vacancies in university housing will be audited and identified. Upon move-in, residents are encouraged to reach out to their Resident Assistant (RA) or professional staff (Resident Director or Assistant Resident Director) for support with their living situation.

  • Why do I need a room change?
  • What's most important for the space I live in?
  • What have I learned already about living with others?
  • What will I do to connect to a new community?
  • What can I do to manage conflict effectively?
  • How can I do better to establish healthy boundaries?
