San Joaquin Project Update

May 21, 2015

We have some very exciting work activities and changes to the site scheduled for this next week at the San Joaquin project! The contractor has completed paving the new East Access Road (see photo) and is currently working on the final connection to El Colegio Road. This access road will serve as the primary vehicle access to ADA parking at the Santa Catalina North Tower, as well as the route for all deliveries and trash pickup from the existing Portola loading dock. Once completed, the current access to Santa Catalina from Storke Road with the construction crossing and 30-minute parking spaces will be closed so that the contractor can start working on the next tower foundation and underground utilities. During this transition of access to Santa Catalina North Tower switching from Storke Road to El Colegio, we ask for all cyclists, pedestrians, and vehicles to be mindful and follow all posted signage and traffic control measures. In addition, the first large mat slab concrete pour for the new six-story tower on the corner of Storke Road and El Colegio is scheduled for next week. Due to the large volume of concrete needed for this foundation, the contractor will need to start very early in the morning to setup lights and will be pumping concrete continuously from 6:00am – 6:00pm. Up to six concrete trucks will be on-site at various times throughout the day on Tuesday and Wednesday, and construction personnel will make sure they safely arrive and depart from the site via Storke Road. Please let us know if you have any questions and we hope you look forward to seeing the first building start coming out of the ground!
