During the first week of March, specifically March 6-10th the dining commons will be celebrating Nutrition Week. Nutrition week is a campaign developed to promote health and wellness. We want our customers to feel educated about nutrition and feel confident in making informed choices. So we have packed the week with fun activities and learning experiences.
On Monday students will have the opportunity to taste exotic fruits; including dragon fruit, kumquats, baby kiwi and cape gooseberries. Other fun and interactive activities include making your own personal trail mix and yogurt parfait.
Plenty of vendors will be tabling in the dining commons promoting their healthy products. Be sure to stop by DLG or Carrillo on Monday and say hello to the folks from the National Peanut Board. Or on Thursday say hello to the California Walnut Council folks! Additionally, DLG will be hosting a tasting table featuring whole grains.
To get the excitement started early, there is a button contest happening now. The button contest started yesterday and will end on February 28th. The winner of the button design will win an Amazon Echo with Alexa enabled. The winner will be announced before Nutrition Week, and the button will be used to promote the week. You can pick up an entry form at any dining common. We are excited to host this event, so get ready to learn, and eat great, nutritious food. The calendar of events will be available soon, so keep an eye out!
