Want to be big dill? Learn how to pickle vegetables! Brian Smith, Production Manager at Carrillo Dining Commons, did a Food Nutrition & Basic Skills demo via Zoom on Preserving Food & Buying in Bulk and we are fortunate to be able to share the video. Bon Appétit!

CONGRATULATIONS to Nestor Covarrubias, Director of Transportation & Parking Services, for recently completing his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at California Lutheran University, all while working full-time and raising a toddler!

The University of California is collecting words of gratitude. You can share your thanks and appreciation for those who are rising up to help during this challenging time. Here is one gratitude with which we wholeheartedly agree!

DID YOU KNOW? SBCC has a Career Skills Institute that offers FREE classes, some of which are taught by our former talented and caring employee Linda Croyle. Examples of classes include: Personalized Career Planning, Accounting Basics, Photoshop, and much more... UCSB Recreation is offering virtual fitness classes and staff are welcome to participate. Commit to be fit!... Academic & Staff Assistance Program (ASAP) is coordinating a COVID-19 Pandemic Coping Skills Resource Group via Zoom to help us find ways to maintain our psychological well-being and connect with UCSB colleagues. RSVP to asap@hr.ucsb.edu. There are two zoom meetings remaining: Thursday, June 4 and June 11, 2:00-3:00pm. They’ve also made remote resources available on YouTube.... Goleta, Buellton, and Solvang libraries are mailing monthly craft kits to kids for free! Happy crafting!... Kaiser Permanente has been hosting a COVID-19 & Beyond Webinar series specifically designed for University of California employees. These webinars are for all UC employees and you do not need to be a Kaiser member. There is still one class remaining on June 10: The Power of Gratitude

Kudos to the Portola Dining Commons talented and caring staff members who have been on the frontlines daily preparing food to-go for our students. Below are a few photos of the delicious food being served.
