HDAE Highlights

March 24, 2020

When asked to build stands for hand sanitizer stations due to backorder issues, the Residential Operations team built them in less than 10 working hours to help support the COVID-19 campus response. Residential Operations staff going above and beyond as usual!

CONGRATULATIONS: ARIT student worker, Reema Moussa, currently the Cybersecurity Awareness Coordinator, applied and was accepted to be a Student Ambassador for the Educause Security Professional Conference in Seattle. She was one of 12 (out of 56) who were chosen...San Miguel Residence Hall won the 2020 energy contest, while Santa Cruz took second place. Students overall saved 12,000 kWh, reducing their carbon footprint and benefitting the environment. That is the equivalent of two average California homes per year!...Santa Catalina residents were victorious at this year’s All Hall Brawl. They competed against other halls in an epic series of games including dodgeball, a balloon relay race, tug-of-war, and more!

Kudos from a parent of a first-year student at UCSB! HDAE team, you should be proud of the work you are doing to support our students. Thank you for showing that you care!

Challenge a co-worker to disc-dropping fun with the Connect 4 outside of DLG! This vertical game was brought to you by the HDAE Arts & Culture Committee at the suggestion of a UCSB Gaucho. A special shout out to maintenance for replacing the hooks at the bottom with a sturdier solution.

That drab wall outside of Conference & Hospitality Services has been transformed by Eric Zobel with a vibrant aqua mural, photos and 3D lettering. No doubt it will catch people’s attention and make them feel welcome!
