The contractor is planning to finish paving the small section of road at the southwest corner of West Campus Family Student Housing this Friday (8/29), along with some minor asphalt work including the grinding of the speed bumps in the bicycle lanes. The main area of work will be directly adjacent to Building 730 and the newly completed curb and access path to the Coal Oil Point Reserve, and we have been assured that roadwork will not impact the typical traffic flow through the complex. In addition, the second and final coat of road striping for Sierra Madre Court and the west perimeter road is scheduled for next Tuesday, (9/2). During this work we request that residents follow all cones, signage, and traffic control personnel.
Behind the construction fence on the main project site, contractors are continuing on the wood framing, steel construction, and rough mechanical, electrical, and plumbing of all buildings. The demolition of the fire-damaged Building 7 should be completed by the first week of September, with crews currently working on separating plastics from the broken concrete slab before hauling away for grinding and re-use. Reconstruction of Building 7 starting with the underground utilities and soil compaction will commence immediately following the demolition of all components damaged in the fire.
