Sierra Madre construction is slightly behind schedule. Third floor framing continues along with roofing on family housing building 7, with stair towers and framing starting now on single student bldgs at main site adjacent to WCFSH. The paving of the road was paused in consideration of Finals Week and is set to begin at a later date after Commencement weekend. Rescheduling of paving contractor is yet to be determined. Veneco will continue their work at Coal Oil Point beach with the removal of residual tank fluids and eventual deconstruction of the two large crude oil tanks. Venoco maintenance vehicles will be entering via unfinished Sierra Madre court and exiting through WCFSH areas via Elkus walk around the back and out the front by the tot lot. They have been asked to exercise extreme caution when driving through our community. Construction onsite will continue including the parking lots for Sierra Madre Villages. The southwest corner of WCFSH (where there is currently a temporary road open) will be closed to vehicle traffic by end of June with permanent bollards. However pedestrian access to nature areas will still be available at this corner post construction.
The 12kv Project will be continuing out front by Storke adjacent to the tot lot area of WCFSH. The tot lot will not be closed; however, a construction fence will be put between the tot lot and Storke for approximately a week while electrical contractors bring new power lines for WCFSH and Sierra Madre. A map and schedule of the ongoing 12kv work near WCFSH will be forthcoming soon.
