San Joaquin Project Update

January 15, 2015

The San Joaquin Apartments project started construction over winter break, and in less than 4 weeks the contractor has set up all the construction fencing, temporary parking, and is nearly complete with the removal of the asphalt parking lots and surrounding hardscape. The project team is collaborating together to address any site concerns that have come up such as lighting, signage for resident access to and from Santa Catalina, and traffic flow around the entire site during the project. Large earth moving equipment and trucks will continue to transport soil and demolition debris from the site, and the contractor will use flagmen to temporarily direct traffic along Storke Road for enhanced safety during these times. We ask that all vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians follow the posted signage and traffic control measures, and please be particularly mindful while commuting around the project site. Construction information tabling sessions are scheduled for every Thursday during lunch in the Portola Dining Commons, and updates will be posted on this webpage to provide our H&RS community with information on the project. Please feel free to email projects@housing.ucsb.edu with any specific questions or concerns.
