The core structure of the KITP Residence building is starting to take shape. A large part of the steel structure that extends from the basement level of the KITP Residence has been erected. Over the next two weeks, metal decking will be installed. The metal decking will be secured to the steel structure. Residents can expect to hear moderate noise while this work is taking place. Starting on the week of November 9, the contractor will be drilling caissons on the west side of the project. This work will involve a drilling rig that will core into the ground, which will also result in moderate noise. The existing structure should help dampen the sound for San Clemente Villages. The work for both of these tasks will take place between 7am and 5:30pm.
Please feel free to email campus representative Ray.Aronson@dcs.ucsb.edu if additional information about the KITP project is needed.
