El Colegio & Storke Road Improvements Project Update

September 21, 2016

With the new concrete sidewalk and bus stop along El Colegio Road in front of Santa Catalina residence hall now complete and move-in weekend come and gone, the El Colegio & Storke Road Improvements project will now transition into the final phases of construction with the goal of completing all work by the end of November. The most immediate impact of the remaining work on our residential community will be the closure of the left hand turn pocket on to Sierra Madre Court for northbound Storke Road traffic starting September 22nd and continuing through October 21st. In addition, the left hand turn pocket for westbound El Colegio Road traffic on to Slough Road will also be closed intermittently during this period.

These closures are necessary for the project to construct the new median along Storke Road as well as the new pedestrian island and crosswalks at Storke & El Colegio Road. During this 3-week period, the left hand turn out of Sierra Madre Court on to northbound Storke Road will also be closed periodically.

We appreciate your continued patience and understanding during this project and we ask that all residents be mindful of posted signs, traffic control measures, and travel with caution around construction areas. Please contact University Representative Jennifer Pierce at (805)893-8227 or Jennifer.pierce@dcs.ucsb.edu with any specific questions regarding this project.
