The West Campus Family Student Housing Playground Gets a Renovation
Construction at the West Campus Family Student Housing Playground is done! The project began on April 28, and families and Housing, Dining & Auxiliary Enterprises staff gathered together to break-ground and celebrate kicking off construction. Our general contractor, Arroyo Seco Construction, provided operating equipment for the children to get a close-up look.
The original wood play structures in the playground were past their useful life. and the sand fall-zone needed to be replaced for both enhanced safety and pest control mitigation. Residential Operations and Residential & Community Living worked with the Family Student Housing Tenant’s Association, the playground equipment vendor RecWest, and project architect Kim True of True Nature Design to select a new layout of pre-fabricated playground equipment. The project also included replacing the sand fall zone with synthetic turf and installation of a large shade structure.
The official grand opening took place on Friday, August 4 at the newly renovated playground, and included fun-filled activities and the opportunity to play on the new structures!
