The San Joaquin Apartments & Portola Dining Commons project is fully approved to start construction! The contractor will be mobilizing equipment and putting up construction fencing around the project site for the next two weeks through the end of 2014. To prepare for the fencing, we ask that all vehicles be removed from Santa Catalina parking lots by 10:00am on Saturday, 12/20/2014. Any vehicles remaining will be removed. Please note that on-site temporary 30-minute loading and unloading parking stalls will still be provided for residents and visitors to drop-off luggage and groceries when returning from Winter Break. Starting early January 2015, the contractor will be clearing the landscape and demolishing hardscape to excavate for the new underground utilities and building foundations. The primary focus for this first phase of the project will be completing the new west parking lot across Storke Road as well as grading for the new East Road that will wrap around the entire project site and Santa Catalina. Construction information tabling sessions will be scheduled during Winter Quarter and updates will be posted on the Projects Blog to provide our H&RS community with accurate and timely information on the project.
