The Office of Residential Life worked with academic departments to establish a Faculty Resident Living/Learning position. In October, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Programs Ron Tobin submitted a draft job description for a Faculty Living/Learning Director to Residential Life’s Academic Programming Committee for review. A search committee was formed, comprised of H&RS staff members, faculty members and administrators from across campus. After a nomination and selection process, the search committee appointed Apostolos Athanassakis, Argyropoulos Chair in Hellenic Studies, as the first Faculty Resident Living/ Learning Director for Manzanita Village.

In June, a Spring Luncheon was held to welcome Dr. Athanassakis to his position. During a keynote address, he shared his vision of what he hoped to accomplish in the position and methods he would incorporate to accomplish his set goals. We are pleased to have his contribution to the living/learning environment in our new Manzanita Village housing.
