When should I apply? Continuing UC Santa Barbara students apply each year between February 1 and February 15 for the following academic year (results available in early March). New transfer students, EAP students and re-admitted students apply each year between April 1 and June 1. Transfer students applying on-time are guaranteed housing while results for EAP & re-admitted students are available mid-June.

Can I choose with whom I live? You can request a roommate that has the same type of contract as you. During the continuing student application process, you can apply with specific roommates. Actual room and roommate assignments are not made until late summer, so roommate requests can be made and modified through mid-summer.

Can I request a specific apartment? We are unable to accommodate specific apartment requests.

Can I have my own room? Almost all of the spaces in Undergraduate Apartments are shared, double-occupancy rooms. There are 22 single occupancy studios in Westgate.

Can I bring my own furniture? You may bring additional furnishings, however all furniture supplied in the apartment must remain in the apartment, as no storage is available.

Is parking available? In Santa Ynez and Westgate, each resident is entitled to a parking permit for a yearly fee ($240 for 2007-08). Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but there is generally ample parking for all residents with cars. El Dorado has 58 parking spaces allocated by lottery to any of the 140 residents that have cars for a yearly fee ($240 for 2007-08). Those not allocated an El Dorado parking space are entitled to a parking permit for the Santa Ynez parking lot across the street.

Are pets allowed? No, with the exception of fish in a container not exceeding 30 gallons.

When will I know my assignment? Apartment and roommate assignments are generally emailed out by the end of August each year.

Will I be given roommate information before moving in? You will be given the name and email contact information for your assigned roommates.

What should I bring? The following are items residents often bring that are not included in the apartments: microwave, television, dishes, kitchen utensils, shower curtain, sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, desk lamp. You may want to coordinate with your future roommates to avoid unnecessary duplication of items.
