Freshman Application Process

Incoming UCSB freshmen admitted for fall quarter will have access to the online residence hall contract by mid-May as long as their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) is submitted by the campus deadline. Students who submit an SIR after May 1 will be offered a contract only if space becomes available.

The contract packet contains detailed information about your residence hall options, room and board rates, and room assignment information. Once you have read through the contract packet, you will need to complete the Personal Preference form online. Finally, you will need to submit the completed contract. A $25 contract processing fee will be assessed to your UCSB billing account (BARC). All documents must be completed and in our office by the contract deadline to secure a space in the residence halls. Residents will be notified of their hall and room assignment in early September.

Transfer Student Application Process

Residence hall space is available for new transfer students. Typically space is available in San Rafael and Manzanita Village. For detailed instructions and to apply, go to the application website. Students may apply for the Undergraduate Apartments and/or Residence Halls in one application process. Students whose housing application and Statement of Intent to Register are submitted by the deadlines will be eligible. Contract information will be available in mid-June for housing in a university facility.

Continuing Student Application Process

We anticipate being able to accommodate nearly 700 non-freshmen in our residence halls, predominately in San Rafael and Manzanita Village. A lottery will be conducted in February for continuing students. The application period is from February 1 – 15. For detailed instructions and to apply for the lottery, go to the application website. Students may apply for the Undergraduate Apartments and/or Residence Halls in one application process. Lottery results with contract information will be available by early March.
