search | about us | site map |contacts       At the 1998 Strategic Planning Conference 70 H&RS staff, students and campus administrators developed eight vision statements to help transition smoothly into the 21st century. One vision was to have “world class facilities” by achieving excellence in all housing venues.   Housing Initiatives:   Currently renewing existing housing stock and increasing housing for UCSB students in the next five years. New and upgraded facilities are setting a 21st century standard for residential living and learning during the next five years. Facility investment strategy is allowing us to respond to the needs of the student housing community, while maintaining rates at below market levels. Our capital program is creating a larger organization and physical plant over a short span of time. Our goal is maintaining our health and vitality as an organization. We are continuing to provide resources that fulfill our value of quality service. Capital Plan Projects     San Clemente Villages Targeted at graduate student community 972-bed complex slated for Fall 2008 opening Sited at the El Colegio border of the Storke fields after extensive campus consultation Combination of two-bedroom and four-bedroom units         Sierra Madre Apartments Will add to complement of family student residences Located on UCSB’s North Campus Will consist of 151 two & three bedroom apartments Expected occupancy Fall 2009       *In addition to these eight projects, H&RS continues to explore available options that provide quality living environments for UCSB students.
