Renting in our beautiful beachside community can be a pleasant and rewarding experience. However, it is difficult to negotiate a year of renting without encountering a few difficulties. The Rental Housing Success Guide is meant to dispel confusion and help you, the tenant, avoid the pitfalls of rental housing. This Guide provides information and advice on where to live, how to choose (and keep!) roommates, what to do when problems arise, and a wealth of other topics. You owe it to yourself to fully understand your rights AND responsibilities before you begin looking for a place to live!
Informational sections, forms, and maps are provided below in Adobe Acrobat PDF format, adapted from the hard-copy version of the Rental Housing Success Guide available in the office. If you have additional questions/concerns/issues related to the topics in the Rental Housing Success Guide please submit an online request from the Community Housing Office (CHO). CHO can be reached by phone at 805-893-4371, by email (ucsbcho@housing.ucsb.edu), or in person in the UCen on the 3rd Floor.
