Our first batch of food waste compost has arrived!
Our H&RS Grounds unit received the first delivery of compost, created and collected from Residential Dining Services’ pre and post-consumer waste program. We compost 100% of our food waste and compost approximately 22,000 pounds of waste per week in aggregate for all four Dining Commons and Special Events Catering. Dining is able to divert 94% of its total waste from the landfill, including recycling.
The first batch of compost will be used in future Housing planting projects, closing the loop and giving back to our Earth.
