What's Your Water Footprint?

February 8, 2014

California is projected to have the driest year on record in 2014. Here’s how you can reduce your water footprint:

  • 10 minute showers use 17.5 gallons of water. Take 5 minute showers instead, which only use 8.75 gallons.
  • Notice a leaky faucet or shower head? Place a work order immediately. Leaks add up over time!
  • Turn the faucet off while you’re brushing your teeth, shaving or scrubbing dishes.
  • Don’t use the toilet as a trash can.
  • Only do laundry when you have a full load. Combining ½ loads with a buddy conserves water.
Check out our Earth Friendly web page to learn what we're doing to conserve water, and overall, how we're striving to be good stewards of the environment and to support UCSB on its way to becoming a sustainable community. Together we can make a difference!
