Continuing Undergraduates

Continuing Students: Undergraduate

University residence halls university apartments
  • All undergraduate students are eligible to live in the residence halls. Through the 2&2 Program, when you live in the residence halls for two years you are guaranteed a spot in the UCSB apartments for your third and fourth years (as long as you meet the deadlines!) University apartments (Santa Ynez, Westgate, El Dorado, Westwinds, San Joaquin, Sierra Madre Villages and San Clemente Villages) are highly desirable and very competitive to get into.
  • Self-assignment is available for all residence halls, as well as the ability to retain your current space. As a current resident, you’ll have the unique privilege to pick and secure exactly where you’ll be living in 2017-18. You will not sign a contract until you book a space, so you'll know exactly where you'll be living for 2017-18 by this winter!
  • Continuing students can live in any of the residence halls. In years past, most of our continuing students have lived in singles, doubles, small doubles, and triples in Manzanita Village and 4-, 6-, and 8-person suites or single rooms in San Rafael Hall, but continuing students are not limited to these buildings for 2017-18. You may choose from any of our residence halls.
  • We keep it simple—our nine month contracts include your room, meals, utilities, wireless internet access, housekeeping, and furnishings, with no figuring out bills with various roommates, no first and last month deposits, and no co-signing leases! We have 800+ student jobs and student leadership positions within Housing, Dining & Auxiliary Enterprises, most of which go to our residents.
  • The halls are ideal environments academically, with study spaces, classrooms, Living Learning Communities, quiet hours, and layers of student and professional on-call staff, all within steps of classes and campus resources. Social programs through your RAs and RHA are designed for continuing students. It’s not just a repeat of your freshman year!
  • And don't forget that a meal plan for our Dining Commons is included when you live in the residence halls. All-you-care-to-eat fresh, healthy, and high quality food! Local, organic and sustainable food whenever possible. No shopping for or cooking food, and no washing dishes.
  • Please check your Umail account directly and frequently so that you don’t miss any important messages from UCSB. It is not reliable to forward your Umail to an alternate email (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc.). If you don’t receive a confirmation email from us within a few minutes of signing your contract, check your spam folder. You're always welcome to call our office at 805-893-5513 to make sure your contract was received.
